Get Your Weather From the Snarky New Carrot Weather App

CarrotWeatherLogoPreviously I wrote about the Carrot To-Do list app, but now the makers of this app have released a series of additional apps that bring the same snarky computer character to other productivity apps. This includes a fun new Carrot Weather app that combines accurate weather information from Forecast.io with funny animations and the same sarcastic commentary found in the other Carrot apps.

For those who have not used any of the prior Carrot apps, they are all based around a computer character that is reminiscent of GLaDOS from Portal. Each time you open this weather app, the character makes an insulting or sarcastic comment about the current weather pattern and the screen shows a small animation. In total, the app has over 2,000 possible lines of dialogue and over 100 different animations according to CNET. The app also displays the relevant weather information, including current temperature, windchill, and wind speed as well as the hourly and daily forecast. You can get more detail by tapping the screen, which reveals a separate page that focuses solely on the weather. You can customize the app to provide the weather for your current location or for one or more city that you have set in advance. In addition, as you use the app you will periodically unlock other hidden locations, such as Luke Skywalker’s home on Tatooine or the location of Jack the Ripper’s first murder. This app brings the same irreverent humor of the original Carrot app to weather forecasting and makes for a fun alternative to the standard weather app. It is available in the iTunes store for $3.99 normally, but is currently on sale for $2.99.
