Create Animated GIFs with 5SecondsApp

5SecondsApp LogoAnimated GIFs are all over the web these days and as they proliferate so do tools for creating them. One such tool is 5SecondsApp. Available for both iOS and Android devices, it makes the process of creating animated GIFs from your videos extremely simple.

When you first open the app, you have the option to either record video from within the app or to upload photos or video from your device. If you opt to upload video from your device, you will be limited to 5 seconds, but can select which portion of the video you would like to use. Alternatively, if you opt to use photos, the GIF will automatically flip between the photos, though you can select the speed at which the GIF moves between images. After the content of the GIF is selected, you can add any one of the fifteen filters, annotate it with text in a variety of fonts and colors, remove selected frames, or crop the entire GIF before you finalize it. Completed GIFs can be saved to your device’s photo album, shared via Email or SMS, or, if you enable sharing, uploaded to the 5SecondsApp website so they can be shared via URL. If you enable the sharing option, you can then automatically post your GIFs to Twitter, Tumblr, Google+ or Pinterest from within the app. Separately, there is an option to connect the app to your Dropbox account so that you can upload your finished GIFs. Any GIF that you create can also be edited or deleted later if you change your mind about it.

5SecondsApp makes the process of creating animated GIFs very approachable for those who are new to the process. The free version of the app has all of the features needed to make nice, 5 second long GIFs, though it does include ads. If you opt to pay $0.99, you can upgrade the app to allow for 10 second long apps and also to remove the ads.
