Combine Photos To Create Fun Effects With Juxtaposer

Juxtaposer LogoCreating convincing visual effects usually requires an expensive program like Photoshop, but with Juxtaposer you can easily combine two images to create fun photo effects on your iPhone or iPad.

To use Juxtaposer, you have to start with two images. One will be the background image and the other will be the top image. The app makes it easy to select images from your device or from your Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, Google+ or Dropbox account. If you would prefer, you can also take a new photo with your device’s camera from within the app. Once you have selected the two photos, you can erase the unwanted portions of the top image to superimpose a portion of the image onto the background. You can zoom in as much as you would like to, making it easy to erase portions of the top image with ease. If you change your mind or make a mistake, there is both an undo button and an unerase feature that allow you to undo as much of the erasing as you would like. You can also move the top image around on the background image to achieve believable and impressive effects. You can also make the top image transparent or use a red mask to ensure that you have deleted all of the relevant portions of the top image (much like in Color Splash, the sister app from PocketPixels). It is also easy to adjust the opacity, brightness, contrast saturation and other elements of either of the images to combine them more seamlessly. And the eraser feature can be made more or less transparent to blend images together. If you wish to superimpose multiple copies of an element of the top image, the app also includes a stamp feature that allows you to make a stamp out of a selected portion of an image and reuse it repeatedly.

Once you are happy with your image, you can save the image, email it, or share it via Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, Google+ or Dropbox. While Juxtaposer will never match all of the features available in a desktop photo editing tool like Photoshop, it does allow you to create impressive visual effects from your iOS device.
