Make Fun Photo Mashups with Split Pic 2.0

Split Pic 2.0 LogoSplit Pic 2.0 makes it easy to take your photos to a whole new level by making it simple to automatically  combine a sequence of images. Several layouts are available in the free version of the app with more available for purchase as part of its Pro version. You can choose between layouts that split the image horizontally or vertically and can either use images that are already stored on their device or can take new pictures using the app. If you opt to take photos within the app, pictures will be added sequentially from left to right or from top to bottom depending on the layout you have selected.

With a subtitle of “Clone Yourself”, it is clear that one of the intended uses of the app is for taking and combining multiple self portraits and this process is made very easy. In devices with both front- and rear-facing cameras, it is easy to switch between the cameras with a simple click and the app offers multiple timer options ranging from 5 seconds to 60 seconds so that you can set up your device and then get into position. Once you have taken all of the images, you can rearrange the layout by changing the size of each image, blurring the lines between the images and adding filters to the image as a finishing touch (including a fun 8-bit one for a bit of a video game look and one that mimics the look of a hand drawing). Once you are happy with the result, the app offers the option to save the image to your device or share it via email, Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Flickr or other apps. This is a fun app for those who enjoy taking and sharing fun photos. The only real limitation I found in the app was the number of ads that are integrated into it. While this is common for free apps, this one did seem to have quite a few, which was also an issue noted in CNET’s review. But, with that one caveat in mind, it is still a fun app if you want to create images with interesting effects.
